I was right in that the Volume - button works during the grub selection screen. I followed the guide here: to get the keyboard paired and working across Windows and ubuntu Was able to get keyboard dock to work at a system level, so logging into lightdm works fine. If you've got any questions about the process, let me know.ĮDIT: I've had a chance to play around with it some more and here's a few more findings: I think the volume buttons actually moved the selected item in the grub screen, but I could have just imagined this. Of course the grub menu also doesn't work with the BT keyboard, so you may want to set Windows as the default boot item. grub2 seems to work just fine to launch both Kubuntu and Win10. I didn't bother with the Secure Boot/rEFInd setup and just left Secure Boot disabled. I sort of followed the process for installing Ubuntu onto a Surface Pro 3 that I found here with the exception that to get into the UEFI/BIOS on the Chi, it's Volume - and the Power button. Keyboard Fn shortcuts don't work (can probably be resolved with xmodmap or similar) Makes logging into the display manager somewhat complicated.
Bluetooth works fine with the keyboard dock (after pairing), but not until you've logged into KDE (and possibly Unity as well). Wifi worked out of the box, including during setup I used the 3-port hub built into my HooToo USB 3.0 gigabit adapter. Since there's only a single micro usb port, it's best to have a hub. Installation from a *buntu live USB is made much easier if you have a USB keyboard and mouse also connected.
REFIND BOOT MANAGER WITH TOUCH SCREEN SUPPORT INSTALL
I just completed a Kubuntu 14.04 install on my T300 Chi (alongside my Windows 10 install).
